Confidentiality Policy
All clients are protected by the principles of confidentiality. Information disclosed during counseling sessions will not be shared with anyone without your explicit consent. However, in order to proactively assist you, confidentiality may be breached under the following exceptional circumstances:
-
Threats to Safety: When there is an imminent risk to your life, freedom, property, or safety, or to that of others.
-
Mandatory Reporting & Legal Responsibilities: When legal obligations apply or when you belong to a group specially protected by law—such as having experienced domestic violence, intimate partner violence, or sexual assault—we will report the situation to and collaborate with the social safety net, leveraging their extensive experience in handling such cases to better assist you.
-
Client-Requested Disclosure: When you explicitly request disclosure to a specific third party (e.g., providing an evaluation report to a court or lawyer for legal proceedings, or discussing your condition with healthcare and helping professionals, such as psychiatrists or social workers, for medical needs).
The legal responsibilities mentioned above are governed by the relevant laws applicable to the individual's situation, including the Civil Code, the Criminal Code of the Republic of China, the Protection of Children and Youths Welfare and Rights Act, the Domestic Violence Prevention Act, and the Sexual Assault Crime Prevention Act.
